2010s NBA All-Decade Team

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

Are LeBron James & Stephen Curry the biggest influencers of the 2010s era?

The 2010s era of the NBA is officially over and we are now a couple weeks into a new decade and in a new era of NBA basketball. I want to give my respect on the impact & greatness these players have displayed during the 2010s. This past decade has been defined by superstar performances, superstar movements, and player empowerment.

Overall, my All-Decade Team features players who modernize the NBA we know and love today, and one who retired and made an forever-lasting impact on the history of the NBA. These groups of players have combined for eleven championships, six MVP awards, five Athlete of the Year awards, and one player won Athlete of the Decade. To completely close this chapter of NBA history, these are my choices for the All-Decade Team.

Stephen Curry

This one was a no brainer due to the fact that Stephen Curry revolutionize the game of basketball. Curry’s ability to shoot anywhere from within half-court changed the way teams defend to such a degree that it took about half a decade for the rest of the NBA to catch-up with Curry and the Warriors. Stephen Curry’s stats & accomplishments over the 2010s decade includes him averaging 23.5 PPG, 6.5 APG, while making 2492 threes on 43.5% shooting, winning back-to-back NBA MVPs, being a six-time All-Star, one-time scoring champion, six-time All-NBA Team, a three-time NBA champion, and Athlete of the Year.

Kobe Bryant

This one is probably the most shocking due to the fact that his final couple of seasons were injury riddled seasons. However; a lot of people forget how great Kobe was during the early parts of the 2010s decade. During his seventeenth year, Kobe Bryant also averaged the most points per game (27.3) in NBA history for a season at the age 35 or older which showed how productive & durable Kobe was throughout his incredible career. Kobe Bryant stats & accomplishments over the 2010s decade includes him averaging 23 PPG, 5 APG, 5 RPG, while winning an NBA championship & Finals MVP, winning an Olympic Gold Medal, being a seven-time All-Star, and a four-time First Team All-NBA Team.

Kawhi Leonard

This one is debatable due to the fact that his regular season numbers are not that eye popping compared to the other players on this list. However; due to how Kawhi has performed in the playoffs from a two-way standpoint, he has earned his way into my All-Decade team. Maybe his greatest achievement this decade, is him preventing both dynasties from a three-peat & dismantling both dynasties due to his stellar playoff performances. Kawhi Leonard’s stats & accomplishments over the 2010s decade includes him averaging 18.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.8 SPG, while shooting 49% from the field, winning two NBA championships & two Finals MVPs, being a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, five-time All-Defensive Team, three-time All-NBA, a three-time All-Star, and Athlete of the Year.

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant certainly has had an interesting and controversial decade when he decided to joined the Warriors after being so close to beating them when he was with Oklahoma City. Kevin Durant has been the most un-guardable offensive player of the decade. There’s no doubt, on the fact that Kevin Durant is in the conversation as one of the best & most versatile scorers in NBA history. Many would argue that before Durant’s injury, that he was the best player in the NBA and I was one of those believers. Kevin Durant stats & accomplishments over the 2010s decade includes him averaging 27.7 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 4.4 APG, and also over 1 steal & 1 block per game, while being very efficient from the field which includes him having a 50/40/90 season, and he’s most certainly improved as a defender as well. Kevin Durant accolades over this decade includes him being a two-time NBA champion & Finals MVP, winning two Olympic Gold Medals, four-time scoring champion, nine-time All-NBA, a ten-time All-Star, and Athlete of the Year.

LeBron James

The oblivious choice here, and there’s no question that LeBron James is the Player of the Decade. Lebron James decision to go to Miami modernize player empowerment during the 2010s era. Lebron brought home Cleveland’s first ever championship along with going on an incredible playoff run which included eight-straight NBA Finals appearances. LeBron’s longevity & dominance over his career is unprecedented which is why he’s been the best player in the NBA for over a decade & one of the greatest players in NBA history. LeBron James stats & accomplishments over the 2010s decade includes him averaging 26.9 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 7.6 APG, while recording a triple-double against every team. LeBron James accolades over this decade includes him being a three-time NBA champion & Finals MVP, winning an Olympic Gold Medal, ten-time All-NBA, six-time All-Defensive team, a ten-time All-Star, three-time Athlete of the Year, and Athlete of the Decade.
